The Tiehua Rural Village is where traditional indigenous music thrives. A village that was once an abandoned old dormitory for Taiwan Railways Administration operators had been redeveloped to become a local indigenous art hub. A space that is both tasteful and laid back, the village offers visitors a display of local talents, a mix of the amateurs and experienced alike.
During the day, the village could get rather bustling especially during weekends, with local store vendors selling their art pieces, handicrafts, locally-grown fresh foods and many other handmade products. Many of the sellers are Taitung’s indigenous residents. Towards the evening, slow your steps to appreciate local musicians putting their talents up on display. This is one of the many charms of Tiehua Village, which is to provide local artists the free space to showcase their talents.
While you enjoy the musical atmosphere of the village, take some time to chill at the Tiehua Bar where unique drinks made from ingredients grown locally are served.
