Laomei Green Reef 老梅綠石槽 is a yet another wonder of nature located at Shimen district, Taipei, Taiwan.
The Datun volcanoes eruption many centuries ago formed a stretch of beautifully structured volcanic rocks along the coastal shoreline.
As the rocks spend its day partially submerged in the water and partially out there under the sun, luscious green algae soon grew in abundance and covered the rocks forming a gorgeous algae reef structure and the months of April to May would be the best timing to visit where the cool temperature allows for full bloom of algae.
While the thought of a bed full of algae might not necessarily be enticing enough to warrant a visit, be surprised that during the day with the clear blue skies and flapping waves, at dusk where the skies are overcast with sunny beams of rays setting down against the horizons or when the first rays of sunlight blends in with the fog at dawn, the mesmerizing sight is amazing to witness.
