Gaomei Wetland 高美湿地 is located in the south of the mouth of Dajia River 大甲溪. It is one of the most well-known and well-preserved wetland habitats in Taiwan. The land is a special mix of mud and sand which bred a diverse organism of animals and plants including birds, fish, crabs, and invertebrates. The Gaomei Wetlands is an excellent location for bird-watching. Migratory birds can be seen throughout various seasons.
Kids will be able to have a fun time running around the wetland, feeling the mud and sand under their bare feet. We recommend parents to bring extra clothes for their kids! It will be a good educational tour out of the urban city life. With the windmills at the background, it’ll make an excellent photo to preserve your memories here. It is recommended to come here in the evening to enjoy the magnificent view of the sunset.
