A new star named Liouli Bridge 山川琉璃吊橋 is born in Pintung county linking sandimen and majia area. With its “vital stats” of 262m long and 15 storeys high, Liouli bridge is by far the longest and most attractive suspension bridge nationwide. Liouli bridge as the name suggest, is a glass bridge which provides a magnificent view down under, provided one is daring enough to look downwards. Where Liouli bridge stands, it is an optimal location for getting picture perfect shots of the entire valley and surrounding mountains. Local government invited local aborigines to leave stunning artworks on the bridge to represent their tribes while mosaics created by elementary school students are also on display. This aesthetically pleasant Liouli racks up million dollars to create and maintain, so much for beauty!
Liouli bridge is unique as to its construction such as anchoring below rocks on both sides and uses high-end construction materials like stainless steel that can weather all in the wild for about 150 years. This must have been a headache for engineers involved in this project.
Do not miss this engineering marvel while at Pintung.
