Banli Tianhou Temple 坂里天后宮 is a place of worship for matsu goddess built on a vast plot of land in the wilderness on matsu islands, Taiwan.
Matsu goddess was born a human and as she possesses divine powers to intervene with life and do predictions to save lives of fishermen, she was deitified after death.
At the front of Tianhou temple stands a giant incense burner and two Qilin guardians by the door. With its pastel orange and red bricks exterior walls, multicolored crown lookalike roof and intricately carved statues of dragons and deities, there is no way to miss the Banli Tianhou temple if one passed by the area.
