Juguang Tower 莒光樓 is a ancient and very imposing looking structure within Kinmen county built in the 1950s.
Architect Sheng Xuie-hai choosed a traditional Chinese style coupled with two canons placed in front of the three storeyed building like a fort to defend its territory to symbolize the turbulent past of Kinmen.
Juguang tower in itself is a cultural gallery showcasing history relics and narrations about the atrocities which used to be an everyday affair at Kinmen as well as current state of Kinmen.
Together with Xiamen and Kinmen, they are like a physical wall separating communist China and nationalist Taiwan with them being only 1.5km of waters away from each other.
