The Dome of Light 光之穹頂 is the world largest glass art exist at the Formosa boulevard station, intersection between Kaohsiung red and orange metro lines.
This stunning piece of work was built by Italian artist Narcissus Quagliatato in approximately 4 years using 4,500 pieces of glass in total to commemorate the birth of Taiwan democracy.
Each quadrant of the dome displays various themes from the life cycle of the cosmos, humanity, and also, the tumultuous political history of Taiwan. While the imageries depicts painful history and destruction of many good things of mankind, the ultimate message put across to everyone is of hope and rebirth.
