Jhongdou Wetlands Park 中都濕地公 occupying over 12.6 hectares of land is an initiative by Kao Hsiung city government to restore this wetland lying amidst the bustling city population in the Jhongdou Region, Sanmin District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
With NT$3 billion investment at stake, this project which began in 2009 was a huge success in raising the overall valuation of the region while solving environmental issues that has plagued the area for decades.
The 30m new Jhongdou vision bridge marks the new beginning of a prosperous new Kao Hsiung with Jhongdou Wetlands Park forming a network of ecological wetland corridor encouraging biodiversity by systematic collection and conservation of wetland plants which welcomes various breed of animals and insects alike, provides an area for ecological education, aids in flood control and last but not least, allows recreational activities for neighbouring occupants.
While at this area, do take some time for a leisure stroll amidst the lush greenery, spot some species of animals, bike riding or just have a picnic in such serenity.
